Tomatoes and Dragon Flies

The other day I decided I needed to get on top of the seed collecting for the tomatoes. So, I started bagging blossoms on each plant.
After bagging I will wait until the fruit appears and take the bag off and mark the branch. When those tomatoes are ripe I will collect the seeds from them and they should be 100% true to type. I just love collecting seeds. :D

It's been really cool the last few days. The dragon flies have been flying around like crazy. Tons of them. They are really neat to watch.

Corn and Flowers

Corn, yummy corn. That top one had a couple little ones growing on it. We've been eating corn all week long.
My favorite flowers of all time. Rudbeckia (a.k.a. black eyed susans). They are so pretty.

All the flowers that I picked. Sunflowers, bells of ireland, several colors of cosmos, snapdragons, and zinnia's. I love having fresh cut flowers around.

My Job Next Door

This is the first picture I took on June 6th.
This is the second one I took on June 25th. I need to take another. The garden is definately a lot fuller than that now.

The Garden as of 6/18/2009 ;-)

It's growing. LOL! Now that the corn is so high you can't see anything else. Oh well.
Grapes are coming on.

Corn, looks like it will start ripening next week.

Tomato plants. Really need to get them staked. LOL! I just don't know if I can swing the 50lb post driver myself for very long.

The Garden as of 6/18/2009

The first cosmo.
Marquee de Provence pumpkin plants growing big.

Lots and lots of carrots. I think they needed to be harvested last week. Oh well, whatcha gonna do. Life happens. LOL!

This is What Happens Sometimes. LOL!

When life gets busy. You get the massive zucchini. LOL!

Lettuce Wraps Recipe

Link is in title. Could not get it to paste. Looks yummy though. So excited!

My Other Job. LOL!

So, this is my other project. Putting in the garden for the neighbors. It won't be too bad once I get the watering on timers. Then I will only be planting every two weeks and weeding every week. Going to get irrigation in on Monday. I'm just glad Dale (the ranch manager) tilled, rowed and put a 1/3rd of the compost in. Whew! Atleast I have the little john deere to help me bring in the compost. Bringing my dad's tractor over there and hooking up the auger and put in holes for the tomato amenities like I did for mine. Won't be so bad after everything is put in. ;-) Oh, and kept myself entertained by listening to car talk and wait, wait, don't tell me on NPR. :-D

Beet Chips

Just found a recipe for beet chips. Oh man that sounds good. Going to go fire up the dehydrator. Yum!

Veggies Ready For Market

Beautiful lettuce. Everyone has been talking about my lettuce at market. How nice it looks. Definately a confidence booster. LOL! It's so yummy. Saving that one head on the left for making lettuce wraps. Yum!
Beets! Everyone loves the beets too. Too bad its going to be too hot for beets in the coming weeks. Can't wait to plant again in July and August. Yum! Had beet and beet green salad last night. One of my favorites!

Baby Goats Are Finally Here

Two baby girls. This is definately a girl year. We only had one buck kid. We definately know who the father of this one is. LOL!
All brown doe. So cute! Mama stopped labor when we went out the first time. Kind of people shy so we watched from the house until she had the first one. Didn't think she had a second since the first one was so big.

Marquee de Provence Pumpkins

This variety is so prolific I had to plant it again. 10 pumpkins or more on each plant last year and I just had to grow it again.
I really do love thier leaves too. Very patterned and heart shaped.

Tomato Plants and Beets

Tomato plants getting bigger.
Huge, looks like four blooms together. Maybe this will be my winning tomato, watch out idiggers. LOL!

Beets

I thought they would get ruined by the heat, but they seem to be doing ok and this week is supposed to be cooler. I will try to sell them all this week.

Lettuce and Corn

Corn is getting so tall already. Yummy!

Beans and Summer Squash

Beans are starting to flower. Yeah!
My ginormous squash plants.

With little baby zucchini on them. If you click on the picture you can see there is a beetle on it. Wasn't sure if it was a bad beetle and I needed to squish it or if it was a good one. I really need to study up more on my garden bugs.

Little itty bitty yellow crookneck squash.

Corn, Beans, and Squash

Corn is growing well. Yes, I know, weeds. Today or tom. they will be gone. Need to fertilize that row too. Weeded and fertilized the other row. ;-) It is a nicer day today. Nice breeze and definately cooler.
Jacob's Cattle beans. Looking good and just about to bloom.

Squash row is almost out of control. LOL! Plantwise atleast. We'll have zucchini and yellow crookneck coming out our ears soon.
