Hi all! I just wanted to update on some special news since I know some of you that check out my blog once in awhile don't know yet. Rog and I are going to have a baby in April! We are so thrilled! I am 12 weeks and we heard the heartbeat today. 160 beats/minute! The little guy is going crazy in there. If you want to check and see how far along I am once in awhile I have a pregnancy ticker at the bottom of every page. I've actually had it at the bottom since right after I found out, but nobody noticed. Oh well, I tried to hint it, but I guess it was too tricky. : ) Posted by Picasa

Congratulations, Cathy! I found you from the Mothering website. My husband and I are on the lookout for land so we can raise goats as well. How long have you and your dh been homesteading? We have bees, chickens and gardens on 1/3 of an acre. We hope to get 5-10 acres. Our house is up for sale and we are ready.

Thanks Danielle. We've only been homesteading for a year. I grew up on one acre and my dad taught us homesteading things like taking care of livestock, bees, and a garden. So, technically I've been doing a little of it all my life. I think it is a great way to live. I hope you find some acreage soon. I just love my goats. Make sure to put up good fences though. They will get out if they can and they love to open latches. :)The best we have found is stock panels that are 5 feet high with electric fence at the top. Make sure the stock panels have the smaller squares at the bottom and gradually get bigger to the top. It keeps them in and the predators out. We have a guard dog too, but only because we have cougars around here.
