It's been awhile since I posted last on my homesteading blog. There is just a lot going on around here. Started plants in the greenhouse, all except one doe has kidded. Gearing up for Farmer's market. Getting about 20 eggs a day. I got a triple yolk egg yesterday. Wow, what a big egg. It looked like a small goose egg. James is growing fast and about to start walking. The goats need to be shorn like yesterday. The weather is going to turn hot real quick and the garden will need to be planted in 3 weeks after the last frost. Have a few ideas of extra items to sell at Farmer's Market besides eggs. So, I'm working on those.
Will try to take more pics of everthing and post more regularly.

New Babies

Krystal finally had her babies. She looked huge, but only had these two little guys in there. Red coppery girl and brown little boy.

Marley

I finally named my newest addition. Had him since he was born about mmm... 10 months ago. I had help from my sister Sandra when she was visiting a couple weeks ago. I'm keeping him and another whethered black male (when someone has one) because thier fiber stays softer longer when they are fixed. He's the friendliest of the Angora's. He's such a sweety.

Ordered a greenhouse as well so hopefully we will be able to get a head start on the garden. Looking forward also growing some winter vegetables like lettuce and kale.

We are also waiting for our first Angora kids of the year. Mama Krystal looks like she is about to pop. She is big. We'll posts pics as soon as they arrive.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had quite an interesting Thanksgiving here on the homestead. We were half kidding (what a good pun) when we told my brother-in-law Rich that he would need to wear grubby clothes and bring his own rubber gloves for a goat birthing. Well, he did bring his grubby clothes and was a great helper as an assistant goat midwife. And of course like I predicted she kidded between 1 and 2 right when the turkey came out of the bbq. She had a big boy and we named him Pilgrim. So cute!
Oh and Jen got video footage of the whole birth. We'll have to save that for little Devin to watch when he gets older. Hehe! This is what daddy has helped with when on the farm with Aunt Cathy. ; )
