Nipple Fruit

Ornamental eggplant. Not edible, but supposedly something you can put in a flower arrangement. And its supposed to look like a cow's udder.
This is what its supposed to look like when it is done growing and turning color. Nipple Fruit.

The Big 'Ol Pumpkin

Will it ever stop growing?
I think it's about twice the size of James. Crazy!
Another smaller one.

Better view of second pumpkin. It will make a nice face if carved.
Moon and Stars Watermelon
That is all that James would let me pick. He was tired and ready to go home. I didn't even dent the tomato population. D'oh!

The Garden Today

Looking greener. James running through the squash.
Part of the pumpkin patch. I couldn't squeeze it all in.
Our loot basket. Lots of sunflowers blooming. I let the bees have most of them. I didn't want to bug them too much.

Pumpkin Update!

Still grrrroooowwwwiiinnnggggg!
Another view. It's a biggin!

In the Garden

Our loot close-up.
Cheers for volunteer bells of ireland. I don't mind a couple of Bells of Ireland plants in the garden. Makes for nice bouquets. They used to be my favorite until I realized they were so spiny.

My little coconut geraniums have been taken by the weeding gods. I went out to water them and they were GONE. So cleanly taken that it had to be a weeding mistake. My mom thought they were pigweed. She felt so bad and looked everywhere for them. She had weeded them just hours before. They were looking so good and bigger than this picture. I will just have to wait until next year to smell thier coconut scented blooms. Sigh.....

James and The Giant Pumpkin?

June 20th
July 2nd
July 8th
18 days of Growth! Isn't that amazing! Wow, it's growing fast!

Tuesday, July 03, 2007

Since I posted yesterday my pumpkin has grown even bigger. Oh My! It's going to be huge I tell you. I guess if I wanted it to be really big I'd pinch off the other pumpkins coming on the vine, but I hate doing that. I really don't need a HUGE giganto pumpkin anyway. ;-)

The Garden is Growing

Maddie and James joined the picture as well.
The same pumpkin I took a picture of a few weeks ago. It looks like its a couple pounds already! That's what 12 days will do!
Tomato plants
Little green tomatoes
Tomatoes. No ripe ones yet, but lots of green.
Eggplant blooms. So excited!
Peppers

Those Purple Russian tomatoes are doing better since we remedied the holes in the line. Darn mice! Setting fruit nicely.
Corn is coming along.
Summer squash

More summer squash
Moon and Stars watermelon coming nicely.
My dad's Gopher melon I think.

Sunflowers are getting ready to bloom.

And my garden buddy. I think he needs a shirt that says I love dirt or Dirt..... Yum!

Perty Fowers

Beautiful rose out front.
Ornamental chili plant with little baby chili's. So cute!

Nipple Fruit Plant

Pincher bugs love eating the leaves. Below is what the fruit will look like. Purely ornamental and the fruit is shaped like cow udders. Hence the name nipple fruit. The description said they are good in flower arrangements. We'll see how they do.

Coleus
Genovese Basil is getting bigger. Those darn pincher bugs are munching on them a little bit.
Daisy mama with tomato plants in the background in the garden.

The Garden As Of Today

It's looking greener and fuller. Yeah! The tomatoes and squash are getting big. The second row is my pumpkins. I'm so excited!
Our first of so many zucchini. I only planted two green zucchini plants, but I have a total of 6 summer squash plants.
Our first pumpkin is forming.
And look a little bee is pollinating the pumpkin. Don't want to disturb the little guy.
